Scary Details of Chris Young’s Leg Infection Revealed
Chris Young‘s leg infection could have triggered something much more serious had doctors not intervened. The singer was treated in Denver last week after falling ill during a flight. Doctors performed emergency surgery to remove the infection after he began to go into septic shock.
One additional show has been scrapped from Young’s tour schedule as a result of the singer’s hospitalization. A press release issued on Tuesday (Aug. 20) indicates he’ll return to the road in Mountain View, Calif. on Thursday (Aug. 22). Doctors in Denver recommended Young wait one full week after the surgery before continuing on Brad Paisley‘s Beat This Summer Tour. The Aug. 21 show scheduled for Redding, Calif. has been postponed until Sept. 8.
“I want to thank all of my fans for their thoughts and prayers,” Young says in a statement.
A bacterial infection resulting from a small cut on his leg triggered the events that led to the ‘Aw Naw’ hitmaker being taken via ambulance to Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center. The singer’s mother and guitarist stayed with him, but he was able to return to Nashville on Sunday. Young has been periodically updating fans on his condition through his Twitter page.
Septic shock can be fatal if not treated.
