Cherry Creek Grill in Sioux Falls suffered some moderate fire damage overnight but it could have been worse.

A passerby heard the fire alarm sounding outside the restaurant around 1:30 Sunday morning. Sioux Falls Fire and Rescue arrived and found the roof area near a kitchen ventilation system on fire.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in about 15 minutes, but stayed on site for nearly four hours checking for fire extension.

Cherry Creek Grill was closed at the time of the fire and no one was inside. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Sioux Falls Fire Rescue who responded with four trucks, three support vehicles and 19 personnel.
