The Minnehaha county commission decided on appeals for two previously approved permits for Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations, or CAFO’s.

Opponents to the permit for Wyatt Sundvold were concerned about residences being closer to the operation than the described 2800 feet to detect order.  Neighbor Jeff Sorenson also commented on the process of being informed about the permit. The commission decided to provide an additional two weeks for further discussion among neighbors.

The second and separate permit near Valley Springs for the Lacey family was upheld. It received support from neighbors and multiple farming groups.
