The B&B Cafe in Albert Lea Minnesota has the best pancakes I've ever eaten. They also have some words of wisdom on the walls I needed to digest for a while.

For years my brother had tried to entice me through the doors of this Minnesota gem. I always chose sleep over the promised pancakes that where the size of a grown mans face. This year when the alarm went off I opted for the experience so many in Albert Lea and surrounding towns know well.  If you haven't had breakfast at the B&B you haven't had breakfast.

The Cafe is small, the wait can be long, but definitely worth it. There is also no shortage of wisdom on the walls in the form of signs from many eras. Like the one that read:

"There will be a $5 charge for whining"

For a minute, let's pretend there was a charge involved in complaining, and if there was no solution we just drop it.

Here I sat the day after Thanksgiving and it seemed the old tapes in my mind that prefer to run on repeat had already started their sessions.  The thoughts that tend to gravitate towards the things that bother me most, resentments, and complaints in general.

This small sign reminded me of a book my friend had showed me years ago called The No Complaining Rule. "In his book based on one company's successful No Complaining Rule, John Gordon shares an enlightening story that demonstrates how you can conquer negativity and inspire others to adopt a positive attitude."

I've always wondered, what is it about negativity and complaining that makes it so addicting and contagious?

Some people find fault like there is a reward for it.”

-Zig Ziglar

I am challenging myself this week to be aware of what I'm thinking and ruminating about in my mind, and if it's not worth pondering then I will point my thoughts in the direction of this sign.
