Budding country star Brandon Lay, who was a Taste of Country RISERS artist for 2017, has lots of things to look forward to in 2018 -- with not the least of those being impending fatherhood!

Lay announced Feb. 6 that he and his wife, Nicole, were expecting, and he chose a grand stage to do so—during his first time playing the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The set was a showcase put on by his record label, Universal Music Group Nashville, for this year's annual Country Radio Seminar.

There's no word yet on when the little one will be making his or her arrival, but Lay was clearly bubbling over with an exciting day overall, posting a soundcheck video from the Ryman earlier in the day to his social media.

Lay's wife was crowned Miss Tennessee in 2010, and the singer actually met her at the Miss Lexington beauty pageant. His friend inadvertently played matchmaker, asking the singer to perform during the pageant's intermission. Lay complied, ran into Nicole backstage, and the rest is history: The pair married in 2012.

Lay's mini-EP, Speakers, was released in 2017 and features his debut single “Speakers, Bleachers and Preachers.” He also has a cut titled "Home Game" on Cole Swindell’s You Should Be Here album, and supported Old Dominion on tour throughout last fall.
