Brandon Band Director Resigns After Allegations from Students
The director of the Brandon Valley High School band program resigned after individuals came forward alleging inappropriate behavior between a teacher and student.
Editor Jill Meier of the Brandon Valley Journal said there were three current and former students that talked to school officials about Chris Borchardt, who had led the Brandon Valley High School band program since August 2015.
"There was one girl that came forth - she did graduate last year - and indicated that he had kissed her and hugged her in the band room last year during a visit back from college." said Meier.
"Apparently there are two others involved. They met with high school administrators and it was determined after that meeting and Mr. Borchardt did resign from the school district."
Borchardt resigned during the winter break. Parents of students of the band were notified about the resignation. Three directors, including a former Brandon Band director Bob Goheen are taking over this year as instructors.
The Brandon Valley Journal said there no charges laid as of last week.
