When race day is on a Monday, such as being postponed due to rain on Sunday, it always has a strange feel for me. Many thoughts go thru my mind.

I wonder how many fans have to just go home because of flights, work obligations and so on. How many fans actually can simply stick around for Monday's race?

What about the people who watch races on TV? Many of them can't see it on Monday because they're at their job. And what about all the hot dogs that the track prepared on Sunday?

These thoughts were refueled with the inclement weather situation at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Saturday (9/8) and Sunday (9/9) were washed out and all rescheduled for Monday morning (9/10).

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race was won by Brad Keselowski in exciting fashion. Under the command of his crew chief, he utilized a late race pit strategy that would put him on fresher tires for the final laps.

This allowed him to make a hard pass on Denny Hamlin on a restart with three laps to go. Keselowski went on to win for the second week in a row.

Keselowski earned Team Penske its first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series win at the track to go with the storied organization’s 17 Indianapolis 500 trophies, including one this May.

Erik Jones made a dramatic pass on Hamlin at the white flag and was runner up at just under one second behind Keselowski. Hamlin finished third, while Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer rounded out the top five. See where your driver finished.

This race now ends the regular season with Kyle Busch leading the points. Now the ten week playoff begins starting Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
