Boy Flies With No Ticket
It sounds like a plot for a Disney movie. A 9-year old boy goes to an airport, boards a flight and ends up in Las Vegas, all without a ticket. But it really did happen and the government shut down can be blamed.
Due to many staff members of the TSA (Transportation Security Agency) being furloughed, the 9-year old was able to go through security and board a Delta flight that took him non-stop to Las Vegas last week. It wasn’t until the middle of the flight that attendants realized they didn’t have any matches for an unaccompanied minor on their passenger list.
But the flight itself was only the tail-end of the trouble created by this 9-year old. While he was in the airport, he also stole a bag from the baggage claim. The boy then decided he was hungry and ordered food from a restaurant in the airport. He then scammed the server out of paying for the bill by telling him he had to use the bathroom and never returned, leaving the stolen bag behind.
A TSA spokesperson said they are investigating to see how this security breach could have happened, and Child Protective Services are dealing with the boy’s parents.
