A company out of Iowa who supplies cookie dough to Blue Bell Creameries and other food companies has issued a voluntary recall for all cookie dough products. On Sunday, Aspen Hills warned customers to be cautious of all products containing cookie dough, for it may potentially have listeria contamination.

Listeria is a serious, sometimes fatal infection that can occur in those with weakened immune systems, such as young children and frail or elderly people.

Short-term symptoms of listeria in healthy individuals includes high fever, nausea, diarrhea, severe headache, stiffness and abdominal pain.

Most of the Blue Bell recalled products were distributed in the south and on the east coast, but those in the Midwest are warned to still look out for potential side effects, incase they came in contact with any of the product.

Consumers may return their recalled products by bringing it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

If you'd like more information, consumers with questions may call (979) 836-7977, Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. CST.
