We knew the blizzard was coming and still people weren't prepared for it. The photo above is from Todd Heitkamp of the National Weather Service. A 22-vehicle pileup on I-90 westbound Thursday afternoon (January 16) closed the interstate from Luverne, MN to Salem while workers fought wind gusts in the 50-60 mph range causing whiteout conditions and zero visibility.

The Sioux Falls Police Department issued a statement shortly after 2pm that no travel was advised INSIDE city limits because of the high winds, blowing snow and zero visibility.

We went to lunch in town and that building you can almost make out in the photo below is the Quaker Steak and Lube that is being built at 74th & Louise in Sioux Falls.
