Blake Shelton Hoping for Bad Reviews After ACM Awards
Most ACM Awards hosts would probably hope for good reviews on the Monday morning following the show, but not Blake Shelton. Shelton hopes he and co-host Luke Bryan get nothing but bad reviews following their return to the MGM Grand’s Garden Arena stage.
The way Shelton sees it, critics are always wrong — especially when something is funny. So if they do their job and provide the crowd with some laughs, he thinks they’ll get the bad reviews they deserve.
“Bad reviews normally mean you had a really funny show,” Shelton tells the Tennessean. “Every time I see something I think is hilarious, the reviews just trash it. Maybe if they hate it, we’ll really hit our core and connect with people because that’s usually how that stuff works out.”
This is the second time the two have hosted the award show together and if practice makes perfect, they’ll be even more ready this year. Last year was Bryan’s very first time playing host on the ACMs and he says he was nervous, but this year is different.
“I think we’re going to be looser this year,” the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year says. He and Shelton aren’t just hosting, they’re both also performing and are competing for the show’s top prize. They’re both nominated for this year’s Entertainer of the Year category and they’ve got some tough competition. They’ll be competing against Shelton’s wife, Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift and country legend George Strait. If Shelton’s lucky he’ll walk away with a top prize — and bad reviews.
