The top three teams in the standings have more than half of the selections on the 2016 All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team.

League co-champs North Dakota State (8 players) and South Dakota State (5), along with third place finisher Youngstown State (5), account for 18 of the 28 spots on the honor squad, with the Jackrabbits cleaning up in the top conference awards.

SDSU quarterback Taryn Christion is the league's Offensive Player of the Year,  linebacker Christian Rozeboom is the Freshman of the Year, and coach John Stiegelmeier has been awarded Coach of the Year.

South Dakota quarteback Chris Streveler is the Newcomer of the Year. Coyotes kicker Miles Bergner is the first team punter and place kicker.
