Best & Worst States For Women
Born and raised in South Dakota, I was excited to see just where my ‘home state’ ranked in this survey. According to the Center for American Progress, the state of Maryland is the best state in our great nation for women. The Center looked at 36 different factors that focused around economics, leadership and health contributing to a woman’s well-being.
Maryland came in first because of the state’s leadership and management opportunities for women, as well as the health of its female residents.
Minnesota women get a grade of a ‘B+’ and come in at number 11 on the Center for American Progress’s quality of life list and a little further down the list is the women of Iowa at number 21 with a ‘C+’.
But where do the women of South Dakota enter the list? The gals are going to have search the list….toward the bottom. Coming in at number 43 out of 50, South Dakota receives a grade of ‘F’. But even though the fine folks at the Center for American Progress have their own factors about what makes a good quality of life (or not) for women in South Dakota….personally….I think it’s pretty good….I’d give it an ‘A’.
