I love a good name. And I think this local Amateur Baseball Team has a great name. The Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels.

Many times this summer I would be out for a walk with Molly the Black Lab and see the Flying Squirrels out on the field at Harmondon Park on Sioux Falls southeast side. Every time I saw the red shirts I thought to myself, Squirrels are playing tonight.

So Thursday night, I was at The Attic in Sioux Falls for a remote with Summer Shandy. And Zach Cole comes up to me and introduces himself. Said he plays for the Flying Squirrels.

It's game day! The Squirrels travel to Mitchell to take on Castlewood at 3:30pm! @KIKNCountry #WinOrGoHome #LetsGetSquirrely

Today is a big day. The Squirrels (10-11)  take on Castlewood, SD in the South Dakota Amateur Baseball tournament going on at Cadwell Park in Mitchell, SD. The Squirrels snuck into the tournament but hop that right handed, straight junk throwin' Trever Hurley can lead them to a win. The team also features T.J. Davis from Augustana, Sam Rall from Brandon Valley And Austin Riddle. The two teams play at 3:30 PM Friday.

My intent was to introduce myself to the team earlier this year. I wanted to have a local team that I followed this year in Amateur Baseball. We made contact late in the game this year with Zach and the Squirrels. Next year, we'll start earlier!   Good luck against Castlewood this afternoon Squirrels.
