A basement caught fire in southeastern Sioux Falls with a dog perishing in the blaze.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue says no humans were injured when the structure on South Arthur Circle caught fire early Wednesday afternoon.

The Argus Leader reported that according to Battalion Chief Jim Powers, the home will be off limits for the near term. Utilities have been cut off as investigators determine what caused the fire.

South Arthur Circle is between Tomar Road and Cliff Avenue and north of 57th Street.
