The South Dakota Board of Regents held a special ceremony for Barry Dunn, who was named the 20th President of South Dakota State University.

Dunn, who is a graduate of SDSU, is currently the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Biological Sciences. He has been Dean of the college since 2010.

“It is an incredible honor to be the president of my alma matter, the place I love so much,” said Dunn.

Dunn will start his presidency on May 22nd, taking over for current SDSU President David Chicoine who has been president since 2007. In December, Chicoine announced that he would step down and join the university’s economics department.
