Badlands Pawn, Gold and Jewelry announced  January 1 that they're seizing operations and shutting down the business, effective immediately.

Following last week's news that up to a dozen employees were laid off, the closing seemed to be expected shortly after the new year.

Badlands Pawn announced the closing on their website, stating that the gun range will remain open, with classes and memberships  still available.

KBAD Radio will still remain open.

The 60,000 square foot business is the latest to shut its doors, after the recent determent of other Chuck Brennan entries. This includes Badlands Motor Speedway, Brennan Rock & Roll Academy and Dollar Loan Centers in the area.

The website also claims the reason for all closures is due to the passing of Initiated Measure 21, which will cap all interest rates on short-term loans in South Dakota.
