Quick thinking plus a swift turnaround equals two Sioux Falls teens in custody.

A woman left her car unlocked and had clothes that she had just purchased stolen. Sioux Falls Police Officer Sam Clemens says her next step factored heavily in finding the suspects.

“She ended up calling Plato’s Closet (located on W. 41st Street) on her own to give them a heads up in case somebody comes in. The clerk that was working recognized these items and thought that they were probably stolen,” said Clemens. “(The clerk) ended up calling police and delayed the two guys in the store until police officers arrived.”

Eighteen year-old Curtis Hurd of Sioux Falls and a 15 year-old boy were arrested. Both are charged with possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, possession with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled substance.

Additionally, Hurd is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
