Another Ice Bucket Challenge! Watch South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard Accept And Donate.
The number of people challenged and taking the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge continues to grow, raising the needed funds to help find a cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Friends and loved ones, people from your neighborhood, local and national celebrities and professional athletes have all been doused with buckets of ice water, helping to bring awareness to the disease that is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Last week, after being challenged by Matt Mead, the Governor of Wyoming, South Dakota’s own Governor Dennis Daugaard accepted the viral Ice Bucket Challenge. Governor Daugaard said,
There is treatment available for those who suffer from ALS, but today there’s no cure for the disease. Through this national viral movement, I’m hopeful we will make a difference.
The rules of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge state that a person who receives a challenge can either accept the challenge and dump a bucket of ice water on their head, or donate $100 to the ALS charity of their choice. Governer Daugaard accepted the Ice Bucket Challenge and donated $125 to the ALS Association to celebrate South Dakota’s 125th Anniversary.
In keeping with the 125th Anniversary theme, Governor Daugaard then issued the challenge to Jack Dalrymple, the Governor of North Dakota, whose state is also celebrating their 125th state anniversary.
Watch Governor Dennis Daugaard (with some help from his wife, First Lady Linda Daugaard) represent not only himself, but our great state of South Dakota in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
