Musically, the decade of the 1960's, it might be argued, were largely defined by Rock and Roll.  many of the most prominent protest and social commentary songs were done by people like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, John Lennon, Donovan, and others.

But as far as commenting on that turbulent decade, well, Country Music wasn't silent.  And one of the voices that spoke was named Cash.

Now of course when you first hear 'Cash' and 'Country Music' in the same sentence, the first name that comes to mind is 'Johnny' (and yes, he also spoke to the 60's with 'What Is Truth?).  And for many, the second name would be 'Rosanne'.  But don't forget another Cash that has a prominent place in Country Music history.

Johnny's younger brother certainly didn't have the stratospheric career that his brother did, but Tommy had several country hits, including the Top Ten hit's 'Rise and Shine' and 'One Song Away'.  He cracked the Top 20 in 1973 with his hit 'I Recall A Gypsy Woman'.

But the song that took a critical look at the 60's was his smash hit from 1969 'Six White Horses'.

Dedicated to John, Martin and Bobby, perhaps the song is now dated, but to those of us who love both real country music and American history, this great classic will never grow old.
