It’s not as disruptive as some of the other projects in Sioux Falls. Though significant improvements in southern sections are necessary to keep pace with growth.

There is no Walmart here yet, but this intersection will eventually carry a lot of traffic. Plus there will be a traffic signal installed and operational before Labor Day at 85th and Minnesota Avenue.

As it stands, West 85th Street is down to one lane currently as construction continues on the project. Work will include construction of northbound and southbound right turn lanes.

Visibility at this intersection is very limited with four lanes of cross traffic for drivers passing through on 85th Street. Also getting in and out of Soo Sports will also be troublesome for a time as the improvements march forward.

If you are wondering about the potential Supercenter to come, the southwest corner of this intersection still awaits more litigation. The northeast quadrant of the intersection may yet see a 2015 crop as the ground was being worked in early May. However, the realtor signs show the coming reality of this once rural section of Lincoln County.
