The regular season has come to a close and now we turn our attention to the District Tournaments which begin early next week.

District 1 features the on-fire Roosevelt Rough Riders (15-5). Roosevelt enters the post season on a nine game winning streak. They will host Watertown (5-15) in the first round, while O'Gorman (9-11) hosts Brookings (8-12).

District 1 Tournament:

First Round: Monday, February 27.

  • Watertown @ Roosevelt, 7:00
  • Brookings @ O'Gorman, 7:00

Championship/3rd Place: Thursday, March 2.

  • Championship game at higher seed (Winner to State)
  • 3rd place game at higher seed (Winner goes to region, loser eliminated)

District 2 had a remarkable season this year, but one team will be left out of district play. Sioux Falls Washington (11-9) will host Yankton (8-12) in the District 2 play-in-game, which is currently scheduled for February 24 at 7:00. The impending weather may change this. The winner of that game will then travel to Harrisburg on Monday. In all, four teams in District 2 finished with 11 or more wins. Only three teams, at most, from the District are able to qualify for the state tournament.

First Round: Monday, February 27

  • Yankton/Washington @ Harrisburg (19-1), 7:00
  • Lincoln (13-7) @ Brandon Valley (17-3), 7:00

Region Final - Districts 1 and 2

  • District 2 Runner Up vs. District 1 3rd Place Winner. (Winner to State)

District 3 features the defending champions in Aberdeen Central, who had another great regular season finishing 15-5. They will be the top seed in the District 3 tournament. The District also features the two weakest teams in Class AA this season in Huron (4-16) and Mitchell (3-17). Pierre (8-12) will be the second seed, but finished the season 3-10 in their last 13 games.

  • Huron (4-16) @ Pierre T.F. Riggs (8-12), 7:00

District 4 features four teams that could potentially shake things up when it comes to the state tournament. No team in District 4 won less than seven games. The two top teams won 14 and 13 games respectively.

  • Douglas (7-13) @ Rapid City Central (14-6), 6:00 CT
  • Sturgis Brown (7-13) @ Rapid City Stevens (13-6), 6:00 CT
